Hilton Head is one of America's best golf spots
Hilton Head, South Carolina is home to a number of America’s best golf courses, and is one of the top ten finest golf resorts in the world. There are a variety of golf courses that you can enjoy during your stay at Hilton Head. Each course presents its own challenges, and has spectacular views. Some of the courses face the gorgeous water of the Atlantic Ocean, while others run through spectacular forests. Another great aspect about the golf courses that are located in Hilton Head is that many of them were designed by some of the most renowned PGA players.

Some of the golf courses that you can enjoy might include these:

Oyster Reef Golf Club – This is a golf course that is enjoyed by golf enthusiasts and serious players. The course is known for its logistic and strategic set up. It is surrounded by tall tress embedded in their natural and lush environment. Oyster Reef Golf Club is mostly a privately owned club, but guests are invited to play at designated times. It is well worth the effort to try to gain access to this course if you are interested in swinging like the pros.

Rose Hill Plantation – This is a 27-hole golf course that is located in a natural ecosystem that grows tall pine trees and lovely magnolias. Rose Hill Plantation is well liked, not only for its challenging golf course, but also for the excellent hospitality of those who host the course.

The other golf courses that you will find located in and around Hilton Head include Eagles Point Golf Club, Country Club of Hilton Head, Golden Golf Club at Indigo Run, Old South Golf Links, Sea Pines Resort – Ocean Course and South Carolina National Golf Club.

Another event that attracts Golf enthusiasts from all over the world is Hilton Head’s famous annual Heritage Golf Tournament. It is at this tournament that some of the most famous golfers played, such as Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin and Johnny Miller. The Heritage Golf Tournament, which is now simply known as The Heritage, began in 1969, and was given this name by Charles Fraser who believes that South Carolina was the first state to be introduced to golf before New York.

The Heritage is an event in which world famous golfers compete in a 72-hole game. Since 1975 the tournament has been televised and each year people gather in front of their television or flock to Hilton Head to witness the grand event. You can enjoy this annual event by traveling to Hilton Head when it is featured; and while you are visiting you can also play a few rounds of golf yourself at some of the nicest golf courses known to the world.
